SECTION III - Hazards Identification

Inhalation:

May be fatal by cyanide poisoning via inhalation of hydrogen cyanide gas.

Skin Contact: Absorption through skin may be fatal. May cause irritation, rash.

Eye Contact: Can cause severe irritation, damage to eyes.

Ingestion: Small amounts can cause death.

Chronic: May develop a "cyanide" rash and may cause loss of appetite, headache, weakness, nausea, dizziness, and symptoms of irritation of upper respiratory tract and eyes.

SECTION IV - First Aid Measures

Skin Contact: Wash skin to remove cyanide while removing all contaminated clothing, including shoes. Do not delay. Skin absorption can occur from cyanide dust, solutions, or HCN vapor.

Seek immediate medical attention.

Eye Contact: Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes holding lids apart to ensure flushing of entire surface. Washing eyes within several seconds of exposure is essential to minimize damage. Seek immediate medical attention.

Ingestion: Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Oxygen should be administered and amyl nitrite from a Lilly Cyanide antidote kit should be available for use if consciousness is impaired (non-responsive, slurred speech, confusion, drowsiness) or if the person is unconscious but breathing. DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING. Get immediate medical attention.

Inhalation: Remove victim to fresh air. If victim is unconscious and not breathing, resuscitate by mechanical means and administer amyl nitrite antidote. Avoid mouth-to-mouth resuscitation due to the possibility of rescuer being poisoned by cyanide from victim. Use mouth-to-mouth only if no mechanical means are available. If conscious, administer oxygen and if necessary amyl nitrite antidote. Keep victim quiet and warm. Get immediate medical attention.
